Quick Scale - qSOFA

Quick Sepsis Classification Scale

The qSOFA (quick Sepsis-related Organ Failure Assessment) scoring system is a quick and simplified screening tool, essential for identifying patients with suspected infection who may be at risk of developing sepsis. Sepsis is a severe systemic inflammatory response of the body to an infection, which can lead to organ dysfunction and, in severe cases, death. The qSOFA assesses three easily obtainable clinical criteria: respiratory rate, level of consciousness, and systolic blood pressure. Each positive criterion contributes 1 point to the total score. A score of 2 or more suggests a high risk of unfavorable outcomes, such as a longer stay in the ICU and increased mortality. Although it is a valuable tool for early screening and guiding investigation, qSOFA does not constitute a definitive diagnosis of sepsis and should always be used in conjunction with a complete clinical evaluation and laboratory tests.
