PEWS Scale

Clinical Deterioration Assessment in Pediatric Patients

The PEWS Scale (Pediatric Early Warning Score) is a systematic tool to monitor vital signs in children, aiming to identify early signs of clinical deterioration. It is based on a scoring system, where different vital parameters receive values that are summed to generate a total score. A higher score indicates a greater risk of clinical deterioration, and a care protocol is defined based on the score.
