Assesses independence in basic activities of daily living (ADLs)

The Katz Index is a tool used to assess an individual's independence in basic activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, continence, and feeding. It helps determine the degree of functional independence or dependence and is widely used in geriatrics to evaluate older adults.
