Confusion Assessment Method for the ICU

The CAM-ICU (Confusion Assessment Method for the Intensive Care Unit) Scale is a validated instrument to assess for the presence of delirium in ICU patients, including those on mechanical ventilation. The assessment focuses on four criteria: acute change in mental status, inattention, altered level of consciousness, and disorganized thinking.
